Stan’s is heating things up with our 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off, happening Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 2–6 PM. Join us for a full afternoon of bold flavors, friendly competition, and good times—all for a great cause.

Whether you’re entering your chili or coming out to taste, vote, and enjoy the fun, this is one event you don’t want to miss.

About the Cause

Proceeds will benefit Amplified Minds, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free mental health services to Dallas-area adults, with a strong focus on supporting the creative community. Amplified Minds serves musicians, artists, service industry workers, performers, writers, DJs, audio professionals, and others who face barriers to accessing care, offering high-quality mental health and recovery support at no cost.

Their mission is to create an inclusive, supportive environment where individuals can access the care they need, feel empowered to prioritize their mental well-being, and engage in open, honest conversations around mental health, addiction, and suicide prevention.

By prioritizing accessibility, Amplified Minds works to remove financial and systemic barriers to care—particularly for creatives and other underserved populations—ensuring that meaningful, professional mental health support is available to those who need it most.

Once all chilis are set up (around 2 PM), attendees can begin tasting and voting. Be sure to sample them all!

Yes, you can purchase more than one tasting spoon and ballot.
Each additional $10 donation includes another tasting spoon, voting ballot, and Busch Light draft drink ticket. Support your favorite chili with extra votes if you’d like!

Event Itinerary

  • 12:00 PM
    Chili contestant check-in begins. All contestants should allow enough time to park, check in, and fully set up their chili entry.
  • 12:00PM — 1:30 PM
    All contestants and chili entries will checked in, receive their entry number and station assignments, set up, and get ready for public tasting and judging.
  • 1:30 PM
    All chilis are set up and ready for tasting.
  • Approximately 2:00–4:00 PM
    Chili tasting and People’s Choice voting take place.
  • Approximately 5:00–6:00 PM
    Raffle prize drawings, announcement of winners, and award presentations.

Chili Cook-Off Rules

Please review the Chili Cook-Off Rules below to ensure a smooth, fair, and fun competition for everyone.

Registration & Entry

  • All chili entries must be registered to compete.
  • Entry fee:
    • $25 in advance with online registration
    • $30 day of event at the door
  • Each registered entry includes one Busch Light draft drink ticket.
  • Registration is per chili entry.
    • If you plan to enter more than one chili, each entry must be registered separately.

Check-In & Setup

  • Contestant check-in begins at 12:00 PM.
  • All contestants and chili entries must be fully checked in, set up, and ready for tasting and judging by 1:30 PM.
  • Please allow enough time for parking, check-in, and setup.
  • Upon check-in, each chili entry will be assigned a number and designated setup location.
    • You may not begin setup until you are checked in and assigned an entry number by Stan’s event staff.
    • Entry numbers and locations are assigned by event staff and may not be changed.
    • Failure to follow this process may result in judging issues or disqualification.

Event Timing (Approximate)

  • 12:00 PM: Contestant check-in begins
  • 1:30 PM: All chilis set up and ready for tasting
  • 2:00–4:00 PM: Public tasting and People’s Choice voting
  • 5:00–6:00 PM: Raffle prizes, winner announcements, and awards

Schedule is an estimate and subject to change. Updates will be shared as the event approaches.

Chili Preparation & Equipment

  • Chili must be prepared at home and brought to the event ready to serve.
  • Chili must be brought in crockpot or other type of warming device.
    • Please note that Stan’s does not provide crockpots.
  • Power outlets and extension cords will be available but are limited—contestants are encouraged to bring their own extension cords if possible.
  • Each entry must provide enough chili for public tasting and judges.
  • Contestants must bring their own serving spoon for their chili.
    • Tasting bowls and spoons will be provided for attendees to self-serve at each chili station.

Optional Accompaniments

  • Contestants may choose to provide accompaniments for their chili, but this is entirely optional.
  • Please note that Stan’s does not provide any accompaniments—whatever you bring will be what guests use to taste your chili.
  • Examples of optional accompaniments include:
    • Crackers
    • Fritos
    • Cheese
    • Sour cream
  • All accompaniments are provided at the contestant’s discretion and should be set up at your chili station.

Chili Guidelines

  • Chili is anything goes! Traditional, Texas-style, vegetarian, bean-based, spicy, mild, or creative twists are all welcome. We love seeing unique takes and personal recipes!

Clean-Up

  • Contestants are responsible for removing all equipment, trash, and leftover food following the event.

Judging & Awards

Win cash prizes! Two award categories:

  • People’s Choice
    • Voted on by attendees who purchase tasting spoons and ballots
    • Winners named based on popular vote
  • Judges’ Choice
    • Selected by a panel of judges who will be blind tasting all entries
    • Judges’ decisions are final
  • Winners will be announced during the awards portion of the event.
  • Ballot tampering is prohibited.
  • Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

Contestant Checklist

  • Register your chili entry (each chili requires its own registration)
  • Invite friends & family to attend
  • $10 donation = tasting spoon, voting ballot, & a draft beer
  • Prepare your chili at home
  • Arrive early for check-in (starts at 12:00 PM) and get your entry number and station assignment
  • Set up your chili station by 1:30 PM
  • Bring your chili and supplies:
    • Bring your chili in a crockpot or warming device
    • Bring a serving spoon for your chili
    • Bring any optional accompaniments (crackers, Fritos, cheese, sour cream, etc.)
    • Bring an extension cord if you’re able (outlets are limited)
  • Have fun, enjoy the competition, and support a great cause! 🌶️🍻
